Glogs, Glogs, Glogs

First and Second graders in Mrs. Milne's class started working on their dinosaur glogs. They are super excited to be working on the computer making an on-line poster. When they are finished, the glogs will be linked on Mrs. Milne's webpage along with being under Technology projects on this blog.

Kinders Meet Corduroy

This week the Kinders were introduced to the beloved tale, "Corduroy" by Don Freeman. Many had heard the story but had not seen the DVD of the book. It is super cute and funny! Their favorite part was when he gets a ride on a train. : - )

After reading the book and watching the movie, we will be doing a compare and contrast Venn Diagram to see what the students remember from both.
Some interesting facts about the creation of the book are that the name Corduroy was the in the title of an unpublished book of his called, The inferior decorator. It was never
published but the main character was a young boy in green overalls.

Go ahead, Kiss a pig!

Did someone say Oink?

Wow! Mr. Hall and Ms. Barczak look great kissing the pig! Each of them received 55 votes from students. Over 175 books of Dan Gutman's were read during the Kiss the Pig contest. Way to go students. At the same time, we held a reading celebration for Dr. Seuss. The third grade presented a play based on Daisy Head Mayzie and other groups did some skits. All were encouraged to read, read, read!
